Man Had Sex With Picnic Table

Posted by shadmia on March 31, 2008

art-price.jpgtable-hole.jpgpicnic-table.jpg

Art Price Jr., 40, of Bellevue Ohio, a married man with three school-aged kids, was having an affair; a very public affair on his front porch. At the very least he could depend on his partner to keep the affair quiet. He was having sex with his picnic table! Thanks to an anonymous neighbor who videotaped some of the sessions, Art now faces 4 felony counts of indecent exposure.

Accordingtable-with-hole.jpg table-with-hole-2.jpgto Bellevue Police Captain Matt Johnson Price was seen on four occasions between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and noon having sex with his picnic table. What makes this a felony, Johnson says, is that it took place in close proximity to a school, Ridge Elementary, and a playground which made it likely that children could have seen him. The neighbor, who wishes to remain anonymous, saw Price walk out onto his deck, stand a round metal table on its side and use the hole in the umbrella to have sex. The most recent instance took place on March 14th. According to NBC Toledo, Ohio, affiliate WNWO-TV, the videos show Price tilting the metal round picnic table on its side and then laying up against it to have sexual intercourse with the table. Afterward, he can then be seen cleaning the table and the deck.

“The first video we had, he was completely nude. He would use the hole from the umbrella and have sex with the table,” Johnson says.

Price, who admitted he was guilty, was released on his own recognizance. The Price family did not want to talk to reporters about the incident but the neighbors were not so reluctant:

“He shouldn’t be allowed out, just for the fact that he could do that again — and nude that close to a school. That should be zero tolerance,” says Brice Jacobs, a neighbor.

Another neighbor wondered about the effects this would have on Price’s children and hoped they would not be teased by other kids:

“Hopefully it stays between the adults and the kids don’t get a lot of the information so they aren’t so cruel to the little kids,” says Emily Grote, a neighbor.

This case has the police, and everyone else, in this small town shaking their heads.

“Once you think you’ve seen it all, something else comes around,” Johnson says.

P.S.

In all seriousness this must have been a highly embarrassing episode for Art Price. However, if I could ask him just two questions they would be: Isn’t it painful to have sex with a metal table? and How big was that hole anyway?

Parents Prayed While Daughter Died

Posted by shadmia on March 28, 2008

the-neumanns.jpg

Madeline Kara Neumann,11, of Weston, Wisconsin died of diabetic ketoacidosis. Her parents, Dale and Leilani Neumann, believed so strongly in the power of prayer, that they refused to seek medical attention for their daughter until it was too late to save her life.

In fact when their daughter fell unconscious the first 911 call did not come from the Neumann’s house in Wisconsin. The call came from Ariel Gomez, the sister-in-law of Leilani Neumann, who lives in California. Ariel Gomez had to call 911 twice because she did not have the Neumann’s complete address. She told the dispatcher:

“My sister in law is, her daughter’s severely, severely sick and she believes her daughter is in a coma. And, she’s very religious so she’s refusing to take (Kara) to the hospital, so I was hoping maybe somebody could go over there.”

“Please. I mean, she’s refusing. She’s gonna fight it so, she’s gonna fight it. We’ve been trying to get her to take (Kara) to the hospital for a week, a few days now so.”

After getting the correct address, the dispatcher sent the police and EMS to the Neumann house. While on the way, another 911 call was placed from the Neumann house. EMS arrived at the house to find Kara not breathing and transported her to Saint Claire’s hospital where she was pronounced dead. Hear both 911 calls here.

It is unusual for children to die from diabetic ketoacidosis. It is a serious but treatable form of type 1 diabetes, caused by acid build up in the blood. Kara’s parents claim the did not know that she had diabetes. Kara had not been to see a doctor since she was 3-years-old. The Neumanns believed in the power of prayer to cure illness.

Wisconsin Social Services has interviewed the family’s three other children — ages 13, 14 and 17 — and had them examined by a medical doctor, Vergin said. They will most likely be returned to the home.Police Chief Dan Vergin of the Everest Metro Police said that during an interview with detectives the parents said “they believed even though they knew she was ill, they had enough faith and prayer that God would heal her.”

“They said it was the course of action they would take again,” Vergin said. “They firmly believe even if they had taken her to a doctor, if this was the time God had chosen for her to die, she would die regardless of medical interference.”

Through an autopsy it was determined she had diabetic ketoacidosis.

“The doctor who did the autopsy and others have said she would have been showing signs for about six months, and she would have been symptomatic, very thirsty, lots of urination, dry skin for the last week,” Vergin said. “They felt she would have been quite ill.”

This young girl did not have to die but Vergin said the death of the girl brings up difficult issues.

“At what point do religious beliefs take over for medical help? And the flip of the coin is at what point are the parents responsible for the health and welfare of their children,” he said. “These people truly believed their prayer and faith would heal their daughter. They have no question about that.”

So far the parents have not been charged with committing any crime. However the police are now preparing a report for prosecutors. It will be up to the district attorney to decide whether or not to file charges.

Under Wisconsin statutes, parents can’t be accused of abuse or neglect if the sole reason for the injury is that they relied on prayer, said Norman Fost, professor of bioethics and pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, adding that the First Amendment to the Constitution gives citizens the right to practice religion.

But Robyn S. Shapiro, an attorney who is professor of bioethics and director of the Bioethics Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin, said abuse or neglect can include “failure to appropriately respond or supply medical care to your kid.

“A Jehovah’s Witness can refuse life-saving blood transfusion based on their religious belief,” he said. “They’re protected. But they can’t refuse it for their child . . . the First Amendment extends to their own behavior but not their children’s.”

“The parents certainly didn’t want their daughter to die, they didn’t want her to be ill,” Vergin said. “They just chose a course of action that allowed her to regress into coma and then death.”

Two 93-Year-Olds Looking for Sex

Posted by shadmia on March 26, 2008

prostitute1.jpgprostitute-at-car-2.jpgprostitute-2.jpgprostitute-at-car.jpg

Carlos Underhill and Frank Milio, both 93, of Manatee County, Fl. were picked up during recent undercover prostitution stings. However, Underhill will not be charged, as prosecutors decided that their case against him could not be proven.

Carlos Underhill admits to stopping to talk with the “good-looking girl” who made eyes at him. She was sitting at a bus stop “with her (breasts) hanging out” and he was planning to give her a ride. What Underhill did not know was that she was an undercover police officer. According to Underhill, when the conversation turned to sex he became confused. She mentioned $30 and this made him feel uncomfortable. In order to get out of what he called “an awkward situation” he promised to come back later to finalize the “deal”. That was when he got arrested.

As if that was not bad enough, it was even more embarrassing, he said, to call his daughter from jail and ask her to pay his bond. “My daughter and I haven’t talked about it since,” he said. Prosecutors said that they were unable to move ahead with the criminal case because there was no way to prove that Underhill actually planned to come back.

Although Underhill paid a $150 fine back in 1990 when he was 75-years-old for trying to pick up a prostitute, he said this time all he was trying to do was chat with the buxom woman who smiled at him as he drove past.

“All I was going to do was talk,” he said. “It wasn’t for sex. I am 93, you know.”

Meanwhile things are not looking so good for Frank Milio also 93. Prosecutors have issued subpoenas and plan to take him to trial. According to police records, Milio tried to pay $20 to an undercover officer on 14th Street West. In his defense, Milio said that he was only flirting with the woman.

“I haven’t had that in years,” he said. “Ninety-three is kind of old.”

I may be wrong on this but this Frank Milio seems to be a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary who recently completed 30 years of service and was honored in a ceremony with a certificate for his achievements. He had retired from the US Army in July of 1974 and joined the Auxiliary in June of 1976. In 1994 the 80-year-old Frank Milio had completed 932 vessel safety checks. Below are pictures from his 30th anniversary with the US Coast Guard.

30-year-award.jpgfrank-milio-cake.jpgfrank-milio-cuts-his-cake.jpg

What makes me think that this is the same Frank Milio is the picture displayed in the article from the Herald Tribune which reported the story. Take a look and see if the picture in the newspaper does not closely resemble the Frank Milio who works for the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. My apologies if I am mistaken……but I don’t think so.

Dorothy Dixon - Tortured and Murdered

Posted by shadmia on March 22, 2008

dorothy-dixon.jpg

Just when you think you have heard and seen it all, there comes along a story that redefines the depths of cruelty and depravity to which some people are willing to descend. This is a story about a pregnant, mentally retarded mother (Dorothy Dixon) who suffered horribly and was ultimately murdered by the very people who were entrusted with her care. I find it hard to believe that anyone, much less 6 people, could exhibit such wanton disregard for the life of another human being and engage in such reprehensible behavior as described below. Dorothy Dixon was ridiculed, tortured and murdered by monsters. After all that she had to suffer though: May she finally Rest In Peace.

When Dorothy Dixon, 29, died she was six months pregnant and the mother of a one-year-old baby boy. The police believe Dixon died as a result of a blow on the head delivered by 43-year-old Judy Woods. It was however the autopsy that revealed the extent of the torture that Dixon suffered:

X-rays revealed roughly 30 BBs lodged in her. Deep-tissue burns covered about one-third of her body — her face, her chest, her arms and feet — and left her severely dehydrated. Her face and body showed signs of prolonged abuse. Many of her wounds were infected.

Amichelle-riley.jpg Madisonjudy-woods.jpg County grand jury indicted Michelle Riley, 35, Judy Woods, 43, Michael Elliott, 18, Benny Lee Wilson, 16, and LeShelle McBride, 15, of first-degree murder, aggravated battery and one count apiece of intentional homicide of an unborn child, heinous battery and unlawful restraint. A 12-year-old boy is charged as a juvenile. The victim Dorothy Dixon, 29, and all the suspects except Elliott lived at at 2957 Hillcrest St. in Alton, Ill. Bail for each person was set at $1 million. Riley and Elliott are being held at the Madison County Jail; Wilson and McBride are charged as adults but are being held at a juvenile detention center. Judy Woods has been held without bail since Feb. 1 at the Madison County Jail. Dixon’s one-year-old son who weighed only 15 pounds, was taken into protective custody. Neither the child’s father nor the unborn child’s father was identified.

In June or July of last year michael-elliot.jpgleshelle-mcbride.jpgboth Dixon and Riley rented the 3-bedroom house on Hillcrest St. The monthly rent was $800. Six people lived in the house. LeShelle McBride and the 12-year-old boy are Riley’s children. Woods and Wilson also moved in. Dixon was made to sleep in an unfinished section of the basement, while the others occupied the rest of the house. Riley was an abusive and controlling person who manipulated and threatened everyone in the house. From the start, neighbors Chad Hudson and Terri Brandt considered Riley trouble saying she was evil, vindictive and manipulative. Riley considered Dixon her slave, making her rub Riley’s feet until Riley fell asleep and forcing her to run naked around the house when she got in trouble, the neighbors said.

Rileydorothy-dixon.jpgbenny-lee-wilson.jpgand Dixon had moved to Alton from Quincy, where according to Quincy police, they had lived together for some time. Riley worked for the West Central Illinois Center for Independent Living, which helps developmentally disabled people find housing and jobs. That’s where she met Dixon, who was a client. Riley also had problems with the law. She was a drug abuser and had previously sold drugs to pay for her habit. Riley’s criminal record includes narcotics offenses in Quincy in 2002 and 2004, and fighting in 2003. Riley had been taking Dixon’s monthly Social Security check which she had been receiving as a result of her developmental disabilities. Dixon saw little, if any, of the money.

“I thought I knew them real well,” the landlord, property owner Steve Atkins, said.

Atkins said Dixon was quiet and friendly. “She was always nice when she spoke to you.” He saw no hints she’d been suffering or tortured.

Riley, on the other hand, wasn’t as easy going, Atkins said. He was on the property one day making some repairs, and Riley was barking orders, Atkins said.

“I asked her, ‘Do I need to call the Army and tell them to come get their drill sergeant?’ Atkins, 39, said. “I thought that was funny. But she didn’t laugh about it at all, obviously, I hit a nerve.

The abuse Dixon suffered at the hands of Riley and the others took place between Dec. 1 and Jan. 30. Banished to the basement, the 29-year-old mother with a childlike mind and another baby on the way had little more than a thin rug and a mattress to call her own on the chilly concrete floor. She ate what she could forage from the refrigerator upstairs, where prosecutors say her housemates used her for target practice with BBs, burned her with a glue gun and doused her with scalding liquid that peeled away her skin. They torched what few clothes she had so she walked around naked. They often pummeled her with an aluminum bat or metal handle.

“This is heartbreaking,” police Lt. David Hayes said. “It was almost as though they were making fun of the abuse they were administering. I’ve never seen an almost conspiratorial effort by a group of people to continuously torture someone until she finally died, then not really show any remorse,” Hayes said. “It was just a slow, torturous, tragic way to die. I highly doubt Dorothy Dixon even knew she was dying. The autopsy sort of indicates her immune system just shut down,” he said. “It was not capable of fending off any more.”

In the rental home’s basement, Atkins said, he found a bucket of feces in Dixon’s former room, a waist-high door that was nailed shut, and blood on the walls, washer, dryer and in the basement shower.

“It’s disgraceful the way this girl died, as kind and as sweet as this girl was,” he said. “She didn’t deserve to die the way she did. It’s just terrible, senseless. It’s just a total shame.”

Kory McFarren Charged in Toilet Seat Case

Posted by shadmia on March 21, 2008

bryan-whipple.jpgtoilet1.jpgkory-mcfarren.jpg

Kory McFarren, 37, of Ness City, Kansas has been charged with the mistreatment of a dependent adult after calling the police for help with his 35-year-old girlfriend Pam Babcock who, according to reports has spent the last 2 years in his bathroom. She was found stuck to the toilet seat so firmly that she was taken to hospital with the seat still attached to her body.

At the urging of Sheriff Bryan Whipple, who responded to the call and had to use a pry bar to remove the seat from the toilet to get Babcock out of the bathroom, Ness County Attorney Craig Crosswhite accused Kory McFarren of criminally mistreating his girlfriend. Crosswhite said McFarren’s first court appearance would be sometime in April.

“I looked at the statutes and spoke to the Attorney General’s Office,” he said. “This was a very unusual set of circumstances and this is the law that most closely applied.”

When officers arrived at the couple’s home, they found Pam Babcock, 35, had developed open sores that adhered her to the toilet seat. They believed she’d been sitting on the toilet for about a month. McFarren told authorities that Babcock feared leaving the bathroom and may not have left it in two years. He said she was afraid of seeing her relatives.

“I don’t know how long she was in the bathroom she has a fear of coming out, most of that fear of coming out is her relatives she don’t want to see them, she’s afraid if she comes out she will see them,” McFarren said.

Well, one of Babcock’s relatives has come forward to talk about the case. Carmen McNamara is Pam Babcock’s cousin. McNamera says Pamela was close to her family until 15 years ago when she went to live with McFarren. She fears McFarren manipulated Pamela and perhaps hid her. She points out that “His neighbors don’t even know she exists how sickening is that, they didn’t even know he had a girlfriend what does that say?”

Neighbors agree they didn’t know she was there. “I’ve never even seen a female there, it’s disturbing something like this could happen,” neighbors said after finding out what happened there.

She also asks one important question that so far has not been answered: “How in the world could someone let her stay there for 2 years and not get help of some kind from somewhere?” Click here to see the interview and video clip.

“We love Pamela to death.,” says McNamara. “Her family loves her very, very much. I, like a lot of others right now, think there’s more to this story that Mr. McFarren isn’t telling.” McNamara continues, “We would send letters and telephone and anything to get in touch with her. We’d physically go to her residence and he would tell us that she doesn’t want to see or talk to her family. And eventually, SHE would tell us that.”

McNamara says her family has been worried sick about Babcock for years. They had no clue what she was enduring. McNamera says Pamela had no history of mental illness and as far as she knows, there was no family abuse.

“Do you call it brainwashing?” McNamara asks. “What do you call it when you have a family member who’s now an adult and they used to always love their family, love spending time with you. Now, all of a sudden, she’s moved in with someone and won’t see us.”

Meanwhile, Pam Babcock continues to refuse an interview with police. Whipple said doctors have been able to conduct a mental evaluation, although he has not received the results. Barring an interview with Babcock, the sheriff’s office has completed its investigation after interviewing McFarren, medical personnel and relatives of both Babcock and McFarren. The case now is in the hands of Ness County Attorney Craig Crosswhite.

Teens Found Guilty in Bus Beating Case

Posted by shadmia on March 19, 2008

sarah-kreager.jpg

Sarah Kreager, 26, of Baltimore received a brutal beating while riding on a bus, on Dec. 4 2007, at the hands of a group of teenagers from Robert Poole Middle School. She suffered two broken bones, bruises and swollen eyes.

“She had eye muscles that were damaged,” a police report states. “She had deep lacerations on the top of her head and another above her neck.”

In a case that had racial overtones, nine black teenagers, aged 14 to 15-years-old, were originally charged in the savage beating. Judge David W. Young found four of the students responsible for first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and conspiracy in the attack on Kreager. They also were found responsible for reckless endangerment for hitting her boyfriend, Troy Ennis. A fifth student was found responsible for reckless endangerment against Kreager and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment on Ennis. Earlier in the case, a sixth admitted her role in the attack, and the judge delayed the cases against three others. Click here for the TV news report.

The teenagers face a maximum punishment on each charge of commitment to a juvenile facility until the age of 21. The judge will decide each teenager’s fate during another hearing on April 3. Sentencing in any juvenile matter is at the discretion of the juvenile court judge.

Nakita McDaniels, 15, was one of the youths involved. The incident started when Kreager attempted to sit in a seat beside McDaniels. McDaniels told Kreager that she couldn’t sit because the seat belonged to her “homegirl.” Kreager got up and went to stand with her boyfriend, Troy Ennis, who commented: “You know how these kids are these days. Our 5-year-old daughter has more manners”

On hearing those remarks McDaniels got up and said: ‘What you say? You white [expletive] think you own everything’ At that point, McDaniels punched Kreager in the face, pulled her hair and tried to pull her deeper into the back of the bus. The bus stopped and the couple attempted to get off. They were followed by a bunch of teens. According to Ennis, the juveniles eventually spilled out onto the street and began kicking and hitting him and Kreager until police arrived. He said he nearly cried when he saw her bloody face.

Fun Straws or Sex Objects?

Posted by shadmia on March 18, 2008

fun-straws.jpgfun-straws-2.jpg

Andrea Bailey is hopping mad. She purchased a pack of fun straws from Wal-Mart for her 3-year-old daughter, Ashlynn. They came in a variety of shapes. She said her daughter picked out one that looked like a heart. However, Andrea said she found two straws in the package that resembled a male penis. She decided to complain to Wal-Mart.

“There are two of them that are shaped like the male private area,” said Bailey. “I called Wal-Mart and they very rude with me about it. They acted like I was lying, like I was making it all up. You know, I would never make something up like that, especially about my little girl. But, that’s just how they treated me and it’s just not right.”

That was when Bailey decided to go public with her complaint. She called WSAZ Channel 3 News in Ashland, Ky. They made inquiries and Wal-Mart responded:

“At Wal-Mart we take customer questions and concerns seriously,” said the spokesperson in a statement. “After being contacted on this matter, Wal-Mart pulled the product in question from our shelves and is investigating the claim. Of course, our customer is welcome to return the item for a refund, if they would like.”

Andrea Bailey says her concern is not the $1.69 she paid for the straws, but what might happen to other families with kids a little older than Ashlynn. A search of three other Wal-Marts in three different states failed to find any of the fun straws.

The TV station aired Bailey’s concerns and asked for viewer feedback. They posted a poll:

What is your take on the straws?

  1. Toy, Rocket, or other child-friendly shape
  2. Male sex organ

Over 1,100 people responded to the poll with the vast majority (66%) saying it resembled a child-friendly shape. Most people who posted comments on the Channel 3 News website thought it was an innocent looking shape and made observations like:

Posted by: Mature person on Mar 17, 2008 at 11:45 AM
The key to this imaginary problem is the following quote, “I can’t think of anything else.” I’ve sent this around and asked for opinions. It seems that those who are most like this and object to imaginary things such as this are those who are obsessed with sex in one form or another. Either this woman has this problem or she needs the attention. I wonder whether she has ever gone to a fabric store and seen one of those things which is used to darn socks, etc. I’m 69 y/o and, when I looked at the “offensive” straws, the only thing which came to my mind was the Arby’s sombrero. This woman has her own little problem(s) and shouldn’t interfere with those of us in the real world.

However, while reading though some of the other comments that were posted, it was mentioned that a website bachelorette.com sold a similar item called a Penis Sippy Straw that was very similar in shape.

penis-sippy-straw.jpg

Well I guess “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder“.

What do you think? Were the “Fun Straws” really sex objects or just the fertile imagination of a mother with a 3-year-old kid?

Great-Grandma fights off Purse Snatcher

Posted by shadmia on March 15, 2008

83-year-old-bernie-garcia.jpg

83-Year-Old Bernie Garcia is no push-over. Would-be purse snatcher, 20-year-old Angelo Trujillo, found this out the hard way. Bernie may be a great grandmother but she has the heart and the fight of a lion. Angelo Trujillo and two of his buddies were in a car, on Wed. March 12th, watching the 83-year-old Bernie pump gas at “Smith’s” supermarket on Cerrillos Road in Santa Fe. He got out and approached her, asking if she could give him some money.

“I thought, ‘What a sweet guy’ at first when he asked me for money,” the Santa Fe great-grandmother said in a telephone interview. “For me, I don’t judge anybody.”

Garcia told the man — who had a goatee and several tattoos — she’d just spent all her spare money on gas and had none to give him. But instead of taking no for an answer and walking away, the man grabbed Garcia’s purse and tried to snatch it away. “But I had it wrapped around my wrist twice,” Garcia said.

While Trujillo was trying to wrestle the purse away from Garcia, she realized that she still had the gas hose in her other hand and proceeded to spray him with gas. Trujillo still refused to let go of the purse and pulled Garcia to the ground and dragged her for a short distance on the pavement. That was when a man who was also at the store, saw what was going on and intervened.

“He went up to (the assailant) and said, ‘Turn her loose you something something,’ ” Garcia said.

When accosted, Trujillo ran to the waiting car, jumped in and fled. Fortunately the man’s wife was able to write down the license plate and description of the car. The police were called and 3 minutes later they stopped a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass — which turned out to have been stolen from Española — on U.S. 84/285. Garcia and an eyewitness both identified one of the men inside as the alleged attacker and the others riding with him as those who were waiting in the car at the time of the attack. Click the image below to see the interview with Bernie Garcia.

bernie-garcia.jpg

Garcia said she felt fine after the incident occurred, and police said she declined medical treatment at the scene. However, after she got home, Garcia said she began sweating and feeling faint and went almost immediately to bed. Then she woke up Thursday morning and really felt the effects of her ordeal.

“This morning, I couldn’t move,” said Garcia, whose son, a former firefighter, checked her for broken bones and found none.

Garcia has a big bruise on her hip and a few scrapes on her hands but otherwise, she’s fine.Angelo Trujillo, 20, of Chimayó was identified as the man who tried to snatch Garcia’s purse, and was charged with robbery and conspiracy. Also arrested were Jody Martinez, 28, of Truchas, who was charged with robbery and conspiracy, and Julian Romero, 27, of Cordova, who was charged with robbery, conspiracy and concealing his identity.

In January, Trujillo was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and two counts of larceny in Los Alamos District Court for an incident that occurred in October, according to online court records. Julian Romero has a lengthy criminal history, mainly theft charges, according to online court records. He is set for trial in Rio Arriba County District Court in May on charges of burglary and larceny, and was charged in November in the same court with aggravated burglary and possession of burglary tools for another incident.

“They got caught and I’m so glad,” Garcia said. “We have some good people in Santa Fe. We have the best police force in the world.”

Garcia admitted she could have been seriously hurt, or worse, but is glad she stood her ground.

“My son said, ‘Why didn’t you just give (the purse) up?’ ” Garcia said. ” ‘Hell no,’ I told him. That was my purse. I was fighting for what was mine.”

Woman Spends 2 Years in the Bathroom

Posted by shadmia on March 14, 2008

toilet.jpg

Kory McFarren, 36, finally decided to call the police saying there was something wrong with his girlfriend, Pam Babcock, 35. He said she seemed groggy and although she was awake, she did not seem to know what was going on around her. Ness County Sheriff Bryan Whipple and his officers responded to the call. When they arrived they found Pam stuck to the toilet seat in the bathroom, with her jogging bottoms down to the middle of her thighs.

She was “somewhat disoriented”, and her legs looked as if they had atrophied, Mr Whipple said. “She was not glued. She was not tied. She was just physically stuck by her body,” the sheriff explained. “It is hard to imagine … I still have a hard time imagining it myself.”

Whipple said there was no indication Babcock had been restrained against her will. It appeared the Babcock’s skin had grown around the seat in the two years she apparently was in the bathroom. She initially refused emergency medical services, but was finally convinced that she needed to be checked out.

“We pried the toilet seat off and the seat went with her to the hospital,” Mr Whipple said. “The hospital removed it.”

The sheriff has asked the county prosecutor to file charges against Mr McFarren, 36, for mistreatment of a dependent adult. Mr Whipple said the prosecutor would determine whether any charges should be filed against Mr McFarren.

“The unfortunate thing is this truly is a case of two people, in my opinion, with diminished mental capacity,” Mr Whipple said.

According to Kory McFarren his girlfriend slowly developed a habit of staying in the bathroom longer and longer until she finally refused to come out at all.

“It just kind of happened one day; she went in and had been in there a little while, and the next time it was a little longer. Then she got it in her head she was going to stay – like it was a safe place for her,” he said.

But Mr McFarren said she had moved around the room during that time, bathed and changed into the clothes he brought her. He brought food and water to her. They had conversations in there and an otherwise normal relationship – except it was all in the bathroom. McFarren, who works in an antique shop, said he has been taking care of Ms Babcock for the 16 years they have lived together. McFarren insisted Babcock hadn’t spent the entire two years on the toilet, claiming that until late January she was taking baths and changing her clothes regularly. He insisted that he had tried to coax her out of the bathroom every day. “And her reply would be, ‘Maybe tomorrow’”

She was reported in fair condition at a hospital in Wichita, about 150 miles southeast of Ness City. However she has an infection in her legs that has damaged the nerves and she could end up needing a wheelchair. Whipple said she has refused to cooperate with medical providers or law enforcement investigators. Authorities said they did not know if she was mentally or physically disabled.

This story has caused quite a stir in Ness City according to a neighbor, James Ellis. He said he had known the woman since she was a child but that he had not seen her for at least six years. She had a tough childhood after her mother died at a young age and apparently was usually kept inside the house as she grew up. At one time the woman worked for a long-term care facility, he said, but he did not know what kind of work she did there.

“I don’t think anybody can make any sense out of it,” he said. “It really doesn’t surprise me, what surprises me is somebody wasn’t called in a bit earlier.”
